Budget Thursday : Lakme 9 to 5 Matte Lipstick Red Coat Review, Price & Swatches

Hi everyone,

Today I am here starting a new series of budget beauty products for beginners, so stop here by every Thursday to know more what are my favourites picks for you!

In this post I'm going to talk about affordable red lipstick for beginners & for those who are on budget. I picked up Lakme 9 to 5 matte lip shade Red Coat.  Read on to find out nitty gritty:

Price : Rs. 450/-

Availability : Flipkart, Nykaa, Amazon, Purplle

Packaging : Lakme 9 to 5 matte lipstick comes in rose gold metal packaging with brand name etched on it, beautiful! It locks up completely which makes this a travel friendly.

Shade : This range consist of exquisite shade from deep red, plums. brown, nudes & pinks. I picked up Red Coat which is lovely & alluring shade of red, looks radiant on fair to medium skin tones.

Texture & Staying Power :

Lakme 9 to 5 matte lipsticks are matte in texture, smoothly glides on lips without tugging at all. I don't even use any lip balm underneath. I am very impressed with the texture at this price, it felt so light weight on lips like you haven't applied anything. When you apply this with lip brush, application is just perfect. It doesn't settle into fine lines but I advise you to prep your lips beforehand to get perfect matte red lip pout!

Talking about staying power, its stays pretty good for 4-5 hrs with little bit snacking in between. I don't mind touch ups :P. At this price tag these are steal & this is the best budget red matte lipstick.

Some bloggers says it is a dupe of Mac Ruby woo, I can't compare it because I don't own Mac one. If it is so, am glad to have mac dupe. See swatch below.

Final Verdict : I highly recommend this particular shade Red coat if you're beginner & want to try out budget matte red lipstick.

GC Rating : 5/5

Hi Angels,

Read more : YBP makeup perfector lust review price

Shades Available : Tanjore Rush, Silk route & Desert Rose.

My take on the product:

These eye quartet are my basic favorite and have been using them for quite long time, made them as a part of my bridal trousseau also. I must say the color selection is resplendent & shining. Many different looks can be created from softer gold coppery eyes to bold olive green eyes. These are beautiful budget eye shadows quartet for beginners as well as for creating festive looks. Though some of the shades are less pigmented but can be work using primer on the lids, some are highly pigmented which didn't budge at all on my lids for 4-5 hrs (see swatches below). I picked up two - Desert rose & Tanjore rush !

Desert Rose

From Left to Right:

* Pure Bronze brown color, super pigmented shade in the quartet. It is the most beautiful shade for festive looks.

* This one is Copper shade with a mix of gold, another exquisite color from the quartet.

* It is a Pink champagne color which is not well pigmented & barely can see on pigmented lids, the least most used shade. I think it works as a highlighter, will try it :p

* It is light Yellow gold shade which is not pigmented at all. I have to swatch it couple of times & hardly it shows up. Can be used as to highlight inner corner of eyes.

GC Rating : 3.5/5

Tanjore Rush

From Left to Right :

* This is an amazing Yellow gold shade which can be used to highlight inner corner of eyes, brow bone or can be used as transition color with the next two shades. It is less pigmented but can be work with primer as base.

* This one is a perfect blend of Copper + Bronze + Gold. I totally love this shade for festive looks. (See the pics below).

* My the most favorite shade among the two quartets, Olive gold color which is amazingly pigmented & look marvelous on fair to medium skin tones. I love this !

* This last one is a Bluish purple shade which is another super pretty shade but unfortunately I have to swatch it couple of times to show it on my lower lash line in the pic below.

GC Rating : 4.5/5

In the above pic I have created olive gold eyes with a hint of purple on lower lash line from the tanjore rush quartet & paired it up with blue based fushia lip shade. I love how the look turned out!

Staying Power : As you have seen swatches above some of the shades are quite pigmented which stays long for 4-5 hrs but some are rarely shown up while swatching & staying power is hardly 1-2 hrs. These are not waterproof & can easily be remove with mild makeup remover.

Final Verdict : I highly recommend the shade Lakme 9 to 5 Tanjore Rush  to all the makeup beginners & to those who are on budget.

YBP Makeup Perfector in Lust - Review & Price

Hi beauties,

As we all know beauty/makeup world is being bombarded with a number of beauty blender which comes in different size, shape & color, a good BB can entirely change your makeup experience. Recently I have come across a new beauty makeup perfector from the brand YBP- Your Beauty Pal! It's a new launch in the month of June & since that day it has become the most rave product in the Indian market & a topic of discussion among all makeup beauty gurus. Read on to find out more:

Price : Rs. 999/-

Availability : ybpcosmetics.com

Packaging : YBP makeup perfector comes in a multi-functional travel container. It is really travel friendly packaging, comes in cylindrical plastic container with brand name imprinted on it. This container has tiny holes which made it so unique & classy to surpass air for the wet sponge to dry easily while you are on travel or otherwise. It also comes with a round tin lid which is used to pour your liquid foundation for instant use, can be wash to use it all over again.

Colors Available : It comes in two color- white & black. White named as naked while Black named as lust. I picked up Lust!

My take on the product :

The moment I had this in my hand, it felt super soft & cushiony. It has perfect tear drop shape, latex free which makes this perfector inimitable. When it is dry, it is small in size - when it gets wet it enlarges & becomes a size bigger. Squeeze all the excess water and wait for ten minutes to use this for liquid or cream based products. See the pic below :

YBP makeup perfector seamlessly blends any makeup means whether it liquid or powder foundation, concealer, blush, compacts, highlighter onto your skin using dabbing motion without leaving your skin cakey or heavy, skin feels like it has no makeup on it which is really commendable for this humid weather & I was amazed by how flawless makeup base it has created, you can see that in pictures below.

The tip shape can be use for concealer application in the inner corner & round base shape can be use for liquid or powder foundation application. It can be best used for contouring as well. Using this for past two weeks & washed couple of times after use it hasn't torn or changed it's shape. This has become my HG makeup perfector from past few days. Since it is easy to wash & the unique storage container makes it really effortless to air dry on its own. I don't own the original beauty blender so can't compare this but it is far much better than real techniques miracle sponge.

Final Thoughts : YBP makeup perfector in lust has become my HG beauty blender because of its ultimate cushiony & spongy texture. It comes with one of a kind multi-functional container which has holes in it so that you can keep your cleaned & washed makeup perfector for air dry on its own. A complete way to use any base makeup product! Without any second thought I would highly recommend this to every makeup lover! Thank You Payal!
Get these from there website which I have linked above.

Will I repurchase : A definite Yes! Will be stocking up Naked this time.

GC Rating : 5/5

Kala Chasma Featuring Katrina Kaif Makeup Look - Movie Baar Baar Dekho

Hey everyone,

Ever since I have seen the song Kala Chasma featuring Katrina Kaif & Siddharth Malhotra from the movie Baar Baar Dekho, I was stunned by Katrina's dance moves & her toned body. She is looking outstanding & I was intrigued to replicate her Green bindi & Kala Chasma look.

In the song most of times she is wearing kala chasma (as the song theme) & we couldn't see her eye makeup properly but in the middle of the song there is little bit glimpse of her eye makeup where I think it is soft subtle brown smokey eye without any hint of liner with light peachy pink lips. So here is my makeup breakdown below:

1) Prep your eye lid with eye cream & wait for few minutes. Add a touch of concealer to even out the skin tone.

2) Take the shade Drama from Makeup Revolution Iconic Pro 1 palette on blending brush & blend well in the crease.

3) In this step take the shade Afflicted from the same palette on eye shadow brush & apply it all over the lid.

4) Blend well both the colors using a little bit of shade Drama on blending brush.

5) In this step apply the Inglot freedom system eye shadow no. 421 on the outer part of the lid using eye shadow brush.

6) Again blend it well so that there are no harsh edges.

7)  This look has no liner so instead of that I just lined my upper lashline using Lakme eyeconic brown kajal & with the angled liner brush fill the gaps remaining using the shade Pitch from the same palette as it is matte black shade.

8) In this step I lined my lower lash line using the same Lakme brown kajal & smudged it with the shade Drama & Afflicted using a smudger brush.

9) Applied a little bit more concealer on my under eye, highlighted the inner corner using the shade Need from the same palette, filled my brows using the shade afflicted, applied Green bindi & sindoor & completed the look with lots of mascara.

10) The finished look!

Have a look on the pictures!
